@heathermarie83 the @memphisinmay line up is a 90s rehash. Still going though there's beer and central BBQ ribs calling my name. [Hoyter]

Late night tech?

by Hoyter on Mar.12, 2009, under Randomness, video

Finally, someone gets it. Im not sure if you have been following Late night with Jimmy Fallon, but it is incredible. I was already a pretty big fan of his nervous almost startled comedy, but am becoming a bigger fan of his new show. Not even on the air for two weeks yet and we already have Kevin (@KevinRose) and Alex (@alexalbrecht) from Diggnation and Joshua from Engadget. It appears that Geek cred is finally starting to leak out into the world.

Jimmy (@Jimmyfallon) has been using Twitter to reach out to his fans, promote show segments, and acquire interview questions for his guests. Last night (3-11-09) Jimmy with the help of Kevin, Alex, and Russell Brand used twitter to promote an audience member’s following and see how popular they can make him.  Bryan Brinkman (@bryanbrinkman) was new to twitter and had around 7  followers. At 6pm EST. Tweets and reTweets started flowing asking for everyone to follow Bryan. I clicked the magic follow button around the 256 fan mark. Within minutes, I watched his count raise by several a second. Within an hour, the count rose to 7,000+ and the show had not even aired yet. This only goes to show the power of Twitter for connecting people. (Cue 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon) Qoolquest(@qoolquest), the drummer for the house band (The Roots). He even tweets while the show is taping.

As of this posting, Brian Brinkman has around 26,000 followers on Twitter.
